Ms Ashley cashed in her gift certificate from a friend for family photos this Sunday afternoon- Look at these amazing boys! You would not believe how loving and sweet her older guys were with baby brother-adorable! Here is a teaser of portraits to come!
This week we got all the seasons in a 72 hour period! Woke up to snow this morning after a sunburn in 82 degrees Wednesday- but right in the middle of that was a perfect bright and beautiful spring engagement session at Cheekwood botanical gardens. I loved hanging out with this sweet couple enjoy their smiles and the perfume of the Hyacinths. We arrived just before peak bloom- so there were already hundreds of tulips and gorgeous dogwoods in the golden hour sunshine!
Congratulations Matt and Chelsea on your engagement!
I have worked for and with several photographers during my journey, but none was so special as working as Erika Chambers Photography's second at weddings years ago! I actually did not do any of my own weddings at that time, and famously told her I never would! HA! The enormity of the responsibilitybeing in charge of the memories at the beginning of a lifetime overwhelmed me then- and is still at the front of my mind now every wedding I take on. The moment I stop getting butterflies before a session is the moment I will know its time to move on!
What I love about Erika is her heart- she understands the emotion and importance behind her captures and where the focus really should be (pun totally intended). Erika's photography career encompasses a wide range of events and social causes. This girl is the real sincere deal, all heart and guts. She is brave when she is scared, a true measure of courage, and doesn't fail to bring her entire heart into every project from the United Way photo journalism, to social causes and her music- oh yeah, she is a ridiculously talented musician and singer. If she wasn't the sweetest damn person, you would be so jealous of all she has going on for her <3
P.S. I love you Erika! I cannot wait to see where your heart, dreams, and adventures take you!
Here is where to find Erika online!
I was blessed to be given a chance to be a part of Erika's team, learning more about the love and art of wedding photography. Here are a few of my favorite photos I took while under her wing!
Ah, this is the one. The photo of the little girl who started my obsession with flower girl portraits and candid photos!
So you have probably guessed, Erika is pretty special and many people really, really love her! Check out this article from the Preset Shop about Erika!

After college, Auburn University friends Andrew & Christian reconnected in Nashville where Andrew was interning at his now full time engineering firm. They ended up falling in love on the Shelby Pedestrian bridge, which is where I met Andrew a week ago to plan his proposal! I get so excited and nervous about these, I do NOT want to miss a moment. Much like a first kiss, the moment a man gets on his knee is a treasured moment in a love story!
Andrew had everything planned, the perfect round cut diamond ring from his mother, he had two locks inscribed with their initials, the date, and one of Christians favorite bible verses on the back. In addition to planning brunch at The Southern and making arrangements with myself- he had family near and far brought in to raise up a cheer as he proposed & celebrate immediately after! A group was waiting just below the bridge on Saturday of about 50 parents, friends, Aunts, Uncles, cousins and adorable sign bearers with the calligraphic words "She Said Yes!" It was such a special time with family and many happy prayers were answered when everyone was able to be there celebrating.
We spent time photographing family groups, and even a mini engagement session before everyone headed back across the bridge to celebrate Nashville style!
Spring finally brought Maytanee and Marks big day, with one of the first days of warm weather in Tennessee! The sweet couple met at Lifechurch, where Maytanee was with Lifekids children's ministry and Mark played with the worship team. Mark now leads worship at Grace church in Gallatin and Maytanee is the the administrative pastor at Lifechurch.tv Hendersonville- they have faithfully centered their relationship in and around Jesus since the begining.
The wedding day started with a traditional Thai family engagement ceremony in Gallatin, where the groom was 'challenged' before he was allowed to step inside with his family. After asking for the brides hand from her parents and aunt, he gave a large dowry of gifts and money before his intended was brought out. Maytanee wore a Thai gown and jewelry her mother had made for her in Thailand especially for her wedding. After exchanging rings the couple was presented with gifts of food and jewlery from both of their mothers. The two then honored guests with gifts like silk scarves and pashimas.
After the engagement ceremony was completed the party whisked off to the American wedding ceremony and bash at the city of Hendersonville Art Council's headquarters-Historic Monthaven
Maytanee had an amazing Bridal Session a few weeks before the big day! Be sure to check out why you should have more than one day to wear the most romantic dress of your life!
Family and friends witnessed the emotional vows, with a special song sung at communion written by Mark himself! Pastor Joel Wilkie, also Maytanees boss, ministered a heartfelt service with Maytanee's sister Achara and friend Kelly as bridesmaids, Marks son Sam and friend Steven as groomsmen. Nephew Christopher and sweet Gracie completed the bridal party. The reception was filled with rich, southern delicacies by 8 Lavender Lane, cake, and dancing. Memorably, the sweet, emotional and funny toasts by Maytanee's sister, dad, and Sam before the exit with glow sticks and a big dip and kiss between husband and wife!

A few weeks before the big day Maytanee and I met up for a killer bridal session at Monthaven, home of the Hendersonville Arts Council. We had fun exploring the historic homes rooms full of antique settees and mantle pieces, as well as amazing paintings and other artwork from local Tennessee artists.
It was so hard to sit on these images and wait to show off gorgeous glowing Maytanee! I am releasing these today because this beauty married her man Mark Saturday- enjoy these while I prepare the rest of the weekends photographs which include a traditional Thai engagement dowry ceremony at her home, as well as an American ceremony and reception at Monthaven.
Thank you to Dana Sherlin Farley for wedding planning and
Ashley May for makeup artistry!
Don't miss out on getting to wear your dress more than once! Bridal sessions are included in most of my wedding packages- Test out your hair and makeup, feel like a star, and have a special session just for you- or trade it for a sexy trash the dress after the wedding session with your new husband later!
Happy first anniversary to Jessica and Brian, who became husband and wife last year March 15th on Nashville's West End Cathedral of the Incarnation Such a beautiful ceremony and fun filled reception at Nashville West End Marriot I am so thankful for fun happy, in love couples! What a blessing to be chosen to capture and spend the day with you and your family.
Jessica and Brian's day was featured in Southern Bridal, but I wanted to show some of my favorite moments and thank them both again for serving and protecting our country!
