This week we got all the seasons in a 72 hour period! Woke up to snow this morning after a sunburn in 82 degrees Wednesday- but right in the middle of that was a perfect bright and beautiful spring engagement session at Cheekwood botanical gardens. I loved hanging out with this sweet couple enjoy their smiles and the perfume of the Hyacinths. We arrived just before peak bloom- so there were already hundreds of tulips and gorgeous dogwoods in the golden hour sunshine!

I have worked for and with several photographers during my journey, but none was so special as working as Erika Chambers Photography's second at weddings years ago! I actually did not do any of my own weddings at that time, and famously told her I never would! HA! The enormity of the responsibilitybeing in charge of the memories at the beginning of a lifetime overwhelmed me then- and is still at the front of my mind now every wedding I take on. The moment I stop getting butterflies before a session is the moment I will know its time to move on!
What I love about Erika is her heart- she understands the emotion and importance behind her captures and where the focus really should be (pun totally intended). Erika's photography career encompasses a wide range of events and social causes. This girl is the real sincere deal, all heart and guts. She is brave when she is scared, a true measure of courage, and doesn't fail to bring her entire heart into every project from the United Way photo journalism, to social causes and her music- oh yeah, she is a ridiculously talented musician and singer. If she wasn't the sweetest damn person, you would be so jealous of all she has going on for her <3
P.S. I love you Erika! I cannot wait to see where your heart, dreams, and adventures take you!
Here is where to find Erika online!
I was blessed to be given a chance to be a part of Erika's team, learning more about the love and art of wedding photography. Here are a few of my favorite photos I took while under her wing!
Ah, this is the one. The photo of the little girl who started my obsession with flower girl portraits and candid photos!
So you have probably guessed, Erika is pretty special and many people really, really love her! Check out this article from the Preset Shop about Erika!

I do, I adore it. Recently in New York I had my 5DM3 and my favorite sigma 35mm Art lens....but for two whole days I only shot the site with my phone.
However....I will just leave this here. I am amazed at what my phone can do, and I def know of professional photographers who use them in real portrait and commercial sessions! I fully believe the most important camera is the one one has with them when the memories happen. I also am not sweating job security because for every iphone and DIY idea there is a Pinterest fail. That i no bashing or throwing shade- because I am so excited by and thankful for the tech we have to all be creators! And documenting the moments of your life is something I fully support to be sure- its how I DO IT! More than half of my families events are iphone and wonderful captures.
For your most special moments I can be trusted to take care of the lighting and angles and depth of field, the edits and 1,000 of blink and you miss them memories. My ideal client knows that on a day as important and huge as Wedding or Senior Portrait session they want to be fully immersed in the moment, not angling their iphone while reciting vows and praying they turn out ok :)

Chelsea contacted me for a surprise portrait session as a Christmas gift a few months back, of her sweet little grand baby and favorite horse friend. I have been keeping these quiet until the canvas gifts were unwrapped- she is such a beauty I just loved the results! Chelsea operates Olde Tyme Carriage and lives on a gorgeous piece of Tennessee land- no better time for portraits than the fall colour just north of Nashville on horseback!
A few last peeks for the honeymooners before the blog and gallery are ready!

Auburn alums Christian & Andrew celebrated their Nashville wedding day begining with mimosas at The Blow Out Co, then the sweet and emotional ceremony at The First Lutheran Church around the corner from Bridgestone arena in the heart of downtown. Then the wedding party was whisked away on a bright red Hello Trolley to the Parthenon with a heck of a party night of dancing to an awesome live band! Enjoy the final sneak peek images before I deliver this happy couples gallery in a few weeks!

Chriatian was so excited to meet a few weeks before she married her true love for a bridal session at gorgeous Cheekwood Botanical Gardens in Nashville. So excited that not even the heat could stop her glowing smile! Folks, she makes it look easy- but it was WARM. Heat advisory warm. This girl is a fairy tale warrior right here! And as a professional who has photographed a lot of different makeup, I have serious props for her make up artist Whitney Strickland of Glamour by Whit because her already beautiful skin was flawless and colours and lips stayed on pointe in 100+ degrees for TWO HOURS under my lights and the hot hot sun. Stunning!
As of 7 pm last night Christian Fulks is now also Mrs Andrew Knestrick! Congrats Andrew and Christian and both the Fulks and Knestrick families! Enjoy these photos as you wait for wedding photos!
P.S. Sneak peek of the wedding is at the end of this post!!
Congratulations Mr & Mrs Knestrick!
Many more photos to come, and many, many more years to come in your beautiful story!
Congrats Courtney & James!!!
Two weekends ago I was blessed to shot a lovely greenhouse wedding at the absolutely amazing Long Hollow Gardens in Gallatin- just a few moments outside of Nashville, Tn. Courtney & James were so awesome and relaxed they made me feel part of the family. The day was golden sunshiny warm, but perfect, with a lovely breeze and sweet clouds that hit right in the middle of the ceremony. Elegant touches like the cellist for the ceremony and acoustic guitar during cocktail hour set the mood- and again the backdrop of a wildflower garden and nursery was so lovely. The folks at Bacon & Cavier had some killer ginger mules to refresh everyone after the service 'in the round'. Or so I heard! It was a delight working with spunky and fun planners Corinna Lindsey Weddings. Enjoy the photos!
Beyond ecstatic to have Courtney and James wedding published in Nashville number one Wedding & Inspiration blog for engaged couples- Ashley's Bride Guide! I have to give the credit for amazing detail planning to the bride, I have never had a wedding picked up so fast for publication (we are talking minutes after submission- the couple was still on honeymoon in Thailand!) Check out the wonderful blog and C&J post here
First Look- such an intimate and romantic few moments. Usually the ONLY moment a couple has alone before they exit at the end of the night! Well alone except for me
(and I am quiet & capture from pretty far away)

This past weekend I photographed a lovely young lady in the warm Nashville summer sunshine right before sunset. The Music City Suds family happily introduced Baby Suds a few short months ago, they are such an awesome, hilarious, and relaxed duo they make every shoot a hoot. Everything about the afternoon was perfect, from the beautiful sunshine to the beautiful babe in the tub to the buckets of sweat we poured out while we cooed and bathed sweet Ruby. After searching around for the 'perfect' outdoor area that was so Nashville, while still casual, Rachel of Music City Suds told me about her favorite tree in the world- and I knew we HAD to have her family photo there! ! Enjoy the photos.

A few weeks before the newly married Martino's fantastic Hendersonville Tn Barn Wedding at The Barn on Willis Branch Road wedding day on Saturday June 11th, I met with Grace for a separate bridal session. Such a great opportunity for her to decide on final alteration for her gown, test out walking around and managing her cathedral veil, and of course get a ton of bridal portraits- more than triple the amount that one can usually fit into a busy wedding day. Feast your eyes on the glowing girls bridal session taken at Amulet Farm in Gallatin!
I was blessed to have shot their lovely Tennessee barn wedding at the lovely Barn on Willis Branch in Goodletsville- just a few moments outside of Nashville, Tn. Grace & Matt were so awesome and relaxed they made me feel part of the family. The day was golden sunshiny warm, but perfect, with a lovely breeze and sweet clouds at sunset. Heartwarming touches like the family heritage table which had the framed photo of Matt's mother among dear family with the couple in spirit, and just before the ceremony began Matt's sister brought a tiny locket with a photo of Matt when he was young that was his mothers to pin on Graces bouquets. The sweetest young lady was the soloist singing Cinderella "So This is Love", is also one of Grace's music students! Friends of family sang during the reception while the bridal party and Groom and Mother of the bride wowed us with a dance against the backdrop of a rustic chandelier chic barn and wildflower garden. Chik-Fil-A catered, and all of the decorations were made by Grace and her family! Enjoy the photos!

Other artists in Terrible Twos!
Terrible 2’s, an art show curated by Jeff Bertrand will be held on June 4th from 6 to 9 pm at 40AU Gallery inside the historic Arcade building in downtown Nashville. This show will feature twenty-two of the best local and regional lowbrow and outsider artists. Bertrand, who is curating the show, wanted to challenge each artist to reflect on their childhood, to create paintings based on what they thought it meant to be an adult. Bertrand, who will be featured in the show, states that “when we were kids, we rushed to become so much older so quickly. Time seemed to take forever. Yet as adults, time seems to slip by us so quickly and it seems we wish we had that youth what we once had.” Each artist will create two paintings that will relate to two distinct themes. The first painting will show what each artist viewed their future as when they were children. The second will be looking back on how they view their youth as an adult. The artists featured in the show are as follows: Charles Bennett, Jeff Bertrand, Chip Boles, Tony Brock, Brooke E ,Burn 353, Ryan Case, Drew Camino, Abby Coppage, Erin Crissey, Jeremy Cross, Amy Elizabeth, Brandt Hardin, Dirk Hayes, Vince Herrera, Anjeanette Illustration, Elisheba Onedropink Israel , Megan Kelly, Jonny Lashley, Janet Lee, Anna McKeown, Michael “Old School” Mucker, Shaunna Peterson, David Pound, Joshua David Sarver, and Chad Spann -copy by Jeff Bertrand
